The 4-peat champion Peterborough Lakers made a big trade on Tuesday, picking up transitional star Colton Armstrong from the Cobourg Kodiaks in exchange for Austin Murphy, who they had just acquired in a trade from Brooklin for Caleb Creasor.
The deal also involved a 2025 first round draft pick and future considerations going to Cobourg with a 2024 second round pick coming back to Peterborough.
Armstrong was a member of the Meredith Cup champion Jr. C Lakers in 2015 and a of the Trent Excalibur when they captured their program’s first Baggataway Cup in 2022.
The Peterborough native also plays in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) as a member of the Halifax Thunderbirds, where he just wrapped up his third season with the East Coast club.
On top of that, Armstrong is also the Defensive Coordinator for the Jr. C Lakers, in the midst of his first year in the role.
In three season with the Kodiaks, Armstrong notched 18 goals and 12 assists in 31 games, picking up 66 minutes in penalties along the way.
He’s expected to be in the lineup tomorrow when the Lakers host the Six Nations Chiefs.
Bryce Sweeting and Jay Thorimbert are also expected to be back in the lineup for Peterborough, both suiting up for the first time this season.
