As summer approaches and driving conditions change with the nice weather, the OPP are emphasizing the importance of driver attentiveness and awareness. Swift responses to sudden stops, turns, and slowdowns are crucial for accident prevention and preserving lives.
Distracted driving, aggression, speeding and impaired driving all continue to be recurring causes of accidents.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says it hasn’t been a great first half of 2023, with this year’s numbers already way up from last year at this time.
He says as the road conditions change with the season, driver’s really need to pay attention and be prepared.
For driver’s hitting the road, Schmidt’s message is clear; don’t be a part of the problem, be part of the solution. Share the road, be aware and enjoy your summer.
