It has been around since 1890, but city staff believe it is time to redevelop the Queen Alexandra Community Centre on Barnardo Avenue.
According to a staff report which will go before committee Monday, the facility needs more than $2 million worth of repairs and the best option is to knock it down and put up a six-storey mixed use residential building for seniors. Right now, the centre houses Activity Haven.
Councillors will decide tonight on spending $60,000 on a feasibility study to look closer at the proposed project.
The meeting will get underway at 6 p.m.
