The largest annual fundraising event for people living with Alzheimer’s disease is fast approaching, destined to help an estimated 12,750 local residents with dementia and their families and caregivers.
Set for May 27th, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Trent University, the 12th annual IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s currently has some 32 teams and families on board.
Local Alzheimer Society CEO Jen Johnstone says the walk not only supports the estimated 12,750 Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland and Haliburton residents living with dementia but also provides a major boost for what she terms their “circle of care.”
Johnstone says besides the raising of funds for society-provided programs, the walk serves a secondary but equally vital purpose.
All money raised, says Johnstone, goes toward two key objectives.
People can sign up for the walk as an individual or as a team by visiting www.walklocal.ca.
The walk is sponsored in part by Oldies 96.7, Freq 90.5 and PTBOToday.
