With the series tied at two games apiece, the Peterborough Petes are in North Bay tonight to face the Battalion in game five of the OHL’s best-of-seven Eastern Conference final.
The winner of this series will claim the Bobby Orr Trophy and advance to the OHL Championship to face the winner of the Sarnia Sting and London Knights Western Conference final, which is also knotted at 2-2, with game five between them also set for tonight.
Coach Rob Wilson, who was a member of the 1989 OHL Championship winning Petes roster, says he’s been happy with his team’s play so far this series, noting that their northern opponent is one of the best teams in all of junior hockey.
Wilson knew it would be a battle against North Bay and says he’s not surprised the teams are tied at this point, comparing their series to the Western Conference final.
As far as keys to being successful tonight, Petes forward JR Avon stressed the importance of sticking to the systems that have been working for them throughout this postseason.
After tonight the teams will return to Peterborough for game six on Sunday and then, if necessary, back to North Bay for game seven on Monday night.
The winner of this series will claim the Bobby Orr Trophy and advance to the OHL Championship to face the winner of the Sting and Knights series.
You can listen to every game on Freq 90.5 beginning each night with the Tailgate Show at 6:30pm.
