Sam Mayer was the hero last night, scoring the game winner with 2:05 left to go in regulation time as the Petes came from behind to beat the Battalion 3-2.
The Petes trailed 2-1 going into the third period but managed to rally back with two unanswered goals down the stretch, capped off by the Mayer game winner as he blasted a shot from the high slot after receiving a pass from Jax Dubois.
It was the first career playoff goal for the veteran defensemen, who was playing in his 153rd consecutive game with the Petes.
Head Coach Rob Wilson had some high praise for Mayer after the game and was happy to see him score that winning goal.
With the win, the Petes took a 2-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference best-of-seven final, with game four set for tonight at the PMC.
