Although Jared Wayne did not hear his named get called during this weekend’s National Football League draft, he still managed to sign a deal today.
Shortly after the draft ended, it was announced that the Peterborough native had signed a UDFA (Undrafted Free Agent) deal with the Houston Texans.
Wayne averaged 91.5 receiving yards per game in the NCAA this past season, playing with the Pittsburgh Panthers, which was the second most in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), while finishing the season with a total of 1012 yards.
The Adam Scott alum will now look to become the first Peterborough born player to play in the NFL.
