With the Easter long weekend upon us, that means another blitz by the Ontario Provincial Police.
This weekend’s blitz across Ontario will focus on seatbelt safety.
The OPP will not only be on the lookout for drivers and passengers not wearing their seatbelt, but also for people who are wearing them improperly.
Police say they are still seeing for too many people not following the law, one that if not followed can have terrifying results, and that’s why they have these blitzes.
OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says buckling up is something we can’t forget to do.
Besides the obvious of buckling up yourself, Schmidt says anyone with kids has to be sure they have a proper car seat, or booster seat in the vehicle as well.
According to Schmidt there were 61 seat belt-related deaths last year, and so far in 2023 there have been nine.
