Peterborough’s municipal politicians, both former and present, were paid just more than $450,000 in salary and expenses since March 31st last year through this current month.
As required under the Municipal Act, the city treasurer has submitted an itemized statement of the remuneration and expenses paid to city council members, the total coming to $455,119.10. The list includes members of the past council and those who have been on the job since being elected in October.
Topping the list is former mayor Diane Therrien, who was paid $95,011.59 in salary and allowances. Councillors Gary Baldwin, Lesley Parnell, Keith Riel and Don Vassiliadis – all of whom won re-election in the fall – were paid close to $35,000 each while Councillor Andrew Beamer, also re-elected, came in at a little less.
The statement also lists remuneration and expenses paid to members of the Police Services Board and the Planning Committee of Adjustment.
