A Trent University honourary degree recipient came away a big winner from the 95th annual Academy Awards held March 12th in Los Angeles.
Sarah Polley, who was awarded the distinction from Trent in 2009, won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film Women Talking. It is her first Oscar win, coming 15 years after she was first nominated in the same category in 2008 for Away From Her.
Following the Torontonian’s Oscar win, Trent vice-president communications and enrolment Marilyn Burns tweeted her congratulations, noting it is “wonderful to see this documentary gain international national recognition.”
