Former Peterborough mayor Daryl Bennett remembers Jack Doris as a “Peterborough institution.”
Upon learning of the passing of the longtime councillor and former two-term mayor, Bennett says the sage advice from Doris that he best remembers is “You have two ears and one mouth, so listen twice as much as you talk.”
Bennett, who served as mayor for two terms from 2010 to 2018, says Doris was instrumental in his seeking the political office.
Doris served on council for more than 40 years and even had a couple terms as mayor. The city has lowered the flags at City Hall to half-mast as a tribute.
