What’s old will be new again February 25th as supporters and protesters of Drag Queen Story Time expected to gather outside the Peterborough Public Library.
Back in September, and then again in January, drag queen Betty Baker hosted story time events for kids that drew huge audiences of kids and their guardians. As posted on Instagram, members of Save Canada, a Christian youth organization, are organizing to protest while by supporters of Baker and the event are expected to also gather.
For her part, Baker remains perplexed by the all the attention, noting it should be directed elsewhere.
With future monthly Drag Queen Story Time events planned, Baker is hopeful all the attention goes away sooner than later.
Baker credits the library for staying the course on having her host the event, adding there’s no winning over those who have a problem with it no matter how well it’s received by participants.
The theme of the 10:15 a.m. story time event, is friendship.
