A Lakefield resident who worked alongside former Canadian prime minister John Turner, and became friends with him, is mentioned in a new biography written by TVO’s Steve Paikin.
John Turner: An Intimate Biography of Canada’s 17th Prime Minister is Paikin’s ninth book.
No stranger to the political arena, having most recently managed Henry Clarke’s run for Peterborough mayor, David Goyette says Paikin’s book provides a rare glimpse of man he first met when he served as former Toronto mayor Art Eggleton’s executive assistant.
To be quoted in the book, says Goyette, is satisfying, giving him pause to reflect.
Thinking back on his interactions with Turner, Goyette says his dedication to public service was as impressive then as it is now.
