You might not recognize the name but you would certainly recognize the face. Character actor JC MacKenzie has appeared in close to 100 tv shows and movies, including The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street, CSI and Law & Order SVU. What you might know though, is that MacKenzie is a actually a Peterborough native.
His mother Mary’s side of the family is from Peterborough and his father Bill worked here as a pharmacist, before taking over his own pharmacies in Ottawa, relocating the family.
MacKenzie has had small roles in several big projects, including appearances in six Martin Scorsese movies, something that not a lot of actors can boast on their resume. While speaking about Scorsese, he said he would do anything for the famed director.
He’s been fortunate to work with actors such as Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon, to name a few, while also crossing paths with with other big name celebrities along the way, including hockey legend and former Peterborough Pete, Wayne Gretzky.
MacKenzie will appear as an announcer in Scorsese’s latest film, Killers of the Flower Moon, which is set to be released in 2023.
