No mask mandate has been introduced, but Dr. Kieran Moore is strongly recommending everyone wear masks in all indoor public settings.
Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health held a press conference Monday morning alongside Dr. Chris Simpson, who is the Executive Vice-President at Ontario Health.
The recommendation was made as part of an update on the pediatric respiratory virus season, which has seen kids’ hospitals overwhelmed in recent weeks by a massive influx of very sick patients.
According to Moore and Simpson, experts have been meeting daily and emergency departments are being instructed to plan for an “extreme surge”.
Peterborough’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Thomas Piggott sent out a series of tweets and says all of us need to be up-to-date and protected by vaccines, and mask up at school, work, and out in the community.
