Campbellford Memorial Hospital has closed the Emergency Department due to COVID-19.
On Thursday, the HKPR District Health Unit declared an outbreak at CMH following confirmed cases of hospital transmission.
Two of the three wings on the inpatient unit have been affected and due to its size, the day surgery wing has been temporarily repurposed to provide more capacity.
As a result, of the capacity and staffing challenges, the emergency department was closed as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday until at least 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
Trent Hills residents are advised to call 9-1-1 or attend the closest hospital in the event of an emergency.
Depending on where you live that could be Northumberland Hills in Cobourg, Quinte Healthcare in Trenton or the Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
