Peterborough’s Weber Brothers are on the cusp of releasing a new album – their 15th since 2003, with the James McKenty-produced recording dedicated to the late Ronnie Hawkins, their mentor and longtime friend.
Ryan Weber says the tracks for Wild As The Wild Dogs were recorded off the floor, the resulting sound not unlike that of a band playing live. The result is an album with a rock and roll spirit.
Ryan adds that during the summer 2021 pandemic lockdown, when opportunities to play live were rare, he and his brother Sam wrote new material, including the songs on this album. Eventually, they were able to get into the studio to record.
In total, The Weber Brothers recorded 31 songs in 13 hours, joined by band mates Emily Burgess, Marcus Brown and Rico Browne. With the album release on November 12 at the Gordon Best Theatre, Ryan says their audience can expect a party.
New songs not on this album will be featured on two coming albums as part of a collection called The Water Street Trilogy. For tickets to the album release, email phil.cnr@gmail.com
