Campbellford Memorial Hospital has been reviewing ways to provide care in a more sustainable way and one thing they are going to try is streamlining Outpatient Laboratory Testing.
Officials say after analyzing the best practices of similar size hospitals, and upon the completion of a competitive RFP process, CMH has begun the process of streamlining Outpatient Laboratory Testing and has engaged the services of Dynacare to assist in processing routine bloodwork.
What does this mean exactly? It means many routine test samples will now be transported offsite for processing and turn-around times will now be 24-48 hours to receive results for routine tests.
Officials add the hospital is not compensated for routine bloodwork and increasing volumes in the laboratory was putting an unsustainable financial strain on continued operations.
CEO Eric Hanna says they are doing everything to ensure the services the community has come to expect will be available when needed.
