A top minister in the Ford government was in Peterborough to update changes at Employment Ontario.
Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development Monte McNaughton said integrating the Ontario Works Employment Assistance and the Ontario Disability Support Programs has created an easy to use one-stop service that helps job seekers directly.
McNaughton adds in just a few months the program, through its partners, has helped thousands of job-seekers and people on social assistance.
The crowd was also introduced Michelle. The 57-year-old former ODSP client explained how she was supported by the YMCA during her journey from social assistance to meaningful work.
General Manager of Employment Services at the YMCA of Central East Ontario Katherine Orban said the agency is working side-by-side with candidates entering and re-entering the workforce.
