CIBC Run For The Cure for breast cancer research and treatment returns to Peterborough on October 2nd with organizers and participants thrilled to be coming together in person after two years of virtual events.
Canadian Cancer Society special events manager Alison Payne says anticipation for the Millennium Park fundraiser – one of 54 Run For The Cure events held across Canada – is off the charts.
Payne adds that while cancer remains “a word that nobody wants to hear,” the positive spirit of the CIBC Run For The Cure event is infectious and provides a huge boost for those who need it most.
While 75 Canadian women are diagnosed with breast cancer daily, Payne says there’s good news in relation to ongoing research and treatment.
Since 1992, CIBC Run For The Cure has raised more than $480 million. Last year saw 20,000 people come together virtually to raise $11 million.
