The Peterborough Lakers avoided going down 3-0 in their Mann Cup series with the Langley Thunder after a convincing 12-6 game 3 win last night. Peterborough still trails the best-of-seven series two games to one but have a chance to tie things up tonight.
The Cattoni brothers led the offence for Peterborough, combining for 12 points while scoring 8 of the Lakers’ 12 goals.
Holden Cattoni finished the game with 5 goals and 3 assists while brother Taite had 3 goals and 1 assist.
Joe Resetarits picked up a pair of goals after missing games 1 and 2 with the flu while Paul Dawson picked up his first goal in a Lakers uniform. Matt Gilray had the other Peterborough goal.
Shawn Evans picked up a pair of assists in the win, giving him 196 career Mann Cup points. He now sits just 7 points behind John Tavares on the all-time Mann Cup points list.
Matt Vinc was spectacular between the pipes for Peterborough, stopping 35 of the 41 shots he faced, while containing Langley superstar Curtis Dickson to just a single goal.
The Lakers will have little time to reflect on the win as game 4 goes tonight at 8pm.
