The Peterborough Lakers will play host to the Mann Cup after knocking off the Six Nations Chiefs in game 6 of the MSL final on Sunday night.
Joe Resetarits led the offence with 4 goals and 2 assists while Shawn Evans chipped in with 2 goals and 2 assists. Goaltender Doug Buchan stole the show at the other end, stopping 64 of the 72 shots he faced, and was awarded the Johnny “Shooter” Davis award as playoff MVP.
Peterborough will have a bit of rest now before hosting the WLA champion Langley Thunder in a best-of-seven series that will begin next Friday.
The Thunder, who feature former Lakers fan favourite, Curtis Dickson, will make their first Mann Cup appearance in ten years after falling four games to two to Peterborough at the Memorial Centre back in 2012.
The Mann Cup is set to run from September 9th to 18th.
