Peterborough Utilities reports that power has been restored to the water treatment plant. The facility had been operating on backup power through the electricity outage. Tap water in the City of Peterborough continues to be safe to drink.

City Public Works crews are continuing recovery efforts, removing downed trees from streets and sidewalks. Fallen trees that are caught in live power lines have to be left until the power lines are safely dealt with.
Hydro One issued an update reporting more than 400 downed poles, several downed transmission towers, and broken limbs along many downed power lines throughout its service areas.
Peterborough Public Health has issued information on household food safety, sharing that a household fridge that is left closed will typically keep food cold for only 12 to 24 hours – after this period, some food will begin to spoil and other food will be unsafe to eat. City facilities, including the Peterborough Public Library, Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre, and community arenas are closed during the power outage for regular operations until further notice. For those looking for emergency charging for electronic devices and electronic mobility aids, Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre and Healthy Planet Arena will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022 for charging locations only.
Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre, while closed for normal operations, is open on Monday, May 23, 2022 for an advance poll being provided by Elections Ontario.
Peterborough Transit is operating with detours as needed where streets are blocked by fallen trees or power lines.
The Jann Arden concert that was scheduled for May 22, 2022 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre has been rescheduled to June 1, 2022.
Parks and outdoor recreational facilities, including tennis and pickleball courts, may have sustained debris and damage. These facilities may take longer to restore as crews focus on critical areas.
The zoo at Peterborough Park and Zoo, which is operated by Peterborough Utilities, is currently closed due to damage from the storm. Please check on its current status before visiting.
