The Ontario Government is working closely with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board to raise compensation for workers who have been injured or come down with illness while working.
Right now, workers are paid 85 percent of their pre-accident take-home pay but the government is looking into raising it by 5% for a total of 90% of take-home pay.
Monte McNaughton, Ontario’s Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development wants to be sure that workers are getting enough money to help them, and their families.
For an injured worker who makes $60,000 a year, the 5% increase would add $2315 more into their pockets.
