Stephen Wright has declared his intention to run for mayor in the upcoming Municipal Election.
The Northcrest councillor held a virtual press conference this morning.
Wright says now that his intention is known, he will be holding a lot of conversations to find out what priorities people want their next leader to focus on.
Wright notes he can’t legally start a campaign until May 3rd.
Late last year, current Mayor Diane Therrien announced she would not be seeking re-election. Therrien remains off on personal leave.
Rumours have been swirling around who else will challenge for the mayor’s chair, with Monaghan Ward Councillor Henry Clarke and former Peterborough MPP Jeff Leal being mentioned in several circles.
