It’s important to remember that COVID-19 is not like the common flu that we usually see every winter.
That’s according to Medical Officer of Health Dr. Thomas Piggott, who says the flu has been non-existent because of public health measures.
Piggott adds that there’s been well over 20 deaths locally because of COVID-19 in Peterborough this year. He says that number would likely be higher if not for regulations put in place in early January.
As of Friday afternoon, Peterborough has 206 active cases of COVID-19, which public health says should be considered an underestimate because of testing eligibility.
