As we start a new week, Peterborough has seen 48 deaths because of COVID-19 since March 2020.
Peterborough Public Health Medical Officer of Health Dr. Thomas Piggott says there’s been some deaths of fully-vaccinated people recently, but adds that’s because there’s more of them than unvaccinated.
An example he uses as a comparison is crashes and impaired driving.
As of Friday afternoon, there were 334 active confirmed cases of COVID-19, which public health says should be considered an underestimate because of PCR testing availability. 48 people locally have died of COVID-19 since March 2020.
