Offset delay times have been an issue for Peterborough city and county paramedics recently, meaning they’re tied up as the hospital until staff there can accept new patients.
Chief of Paramedics Randy Mellow says some of the delay times have been extended this past week.
Mellow adds that the majority of calls for ambulances are actually non-urgent.
The Peterborough County Emergency Control Group has issued a directive to the CAO and Chief of Paramedics to provide funding to support adding an additional response vehicle to try to mitigate the issues. Mellow is working to add response resources as soon as possible to support our staff who have been working excessive overtime due to these delays.
