The Lakefield Chiefs and Uxbridge Bruins battled to a 3-3 tie last night at the Lakefield Smith Community Centre.
Matthew Campbell opened the scoring for Lakefield in the first period, but it was Uxbridge who came roaring back in the second with three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead. The Chiefs’ Carson Hartwick would score his 10th of the season to bring the game within one.
Midway through the final frame, Campbell scored his second of the night on the powerplay to bring the teams even, which is how the game would end after a scoreless overtime period.
With the tie, Lakefield remains one point up on Uxbridge in the PJHL’s East Orr Division with 16 points. The Chiefs (6-4-3-1) are in Clarington tomorrow night to battle the first place Eagles (10-3-0-2).
