Local reaction is pouring in today ahead of a Via Rail announcement from the federal Transport Minister today in Peterborough.
President of the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce Stuart Harrison says there’s a sense of excitement locally.
Harrison says there was a bit of concern that the project could be swept under the rug because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it’s clear the government is dedicated to making it happen.
Highlighted in the plan is new services to certain communities, such as Peterborough, Trois-Rivières, and Laval. Minister of Transport Omar Alghabra will make an announcement at the chamber this morning at 9:30.
