Running a competitive AAA team is a tough job in a normal year, but toss in the COVID-19 pandemic and it’s a whole new challenge.
Dave Dalliday, who spent time in the OHL during his playing days, is now the head coach of the U11 Minor Petes.
Dalliday says coaching is a very fulfilling experience and believes it is the perfect way to give back to the sport and community that supported him throughout his life.
This past season was like none before it because of pandemic-related public health measures. That said, Dalliday thinks it was far from a ‘lost season’ as critical skill development took place in spite of not being able to play traditional games against rival teams.
Dalliday says he looks forward to the first game back with parents and spectators in the stands because it would represent a triumph over incredible adversity and would mean we’ve returned to somewhat normal daily lives.
