Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for a group of four from Kawartha Lakes and Cobourg.
The group matched all seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the October 30th LOTTO MAX draw to win $1 million!
The group of friends include Susan Smallwood and Glenn Smallwood of Kawartha Lakes and Mary and Charles Smith of Cobourg. These friends met five years ago while on a cruise in Florida and have been playing the lottery together for a year and a half.
Susan woke up at 6 am the Saturday morning after the draw and noticed she had an email from OLG. She said, “It was different from the usual winner notifications. When I saw $1 million, I thought it was a joke and ran to wake my husband! We were all shaking.” Susan and Glenn called Mary and Charles using FaceTime to share the news, adding, “They jumped out of bed and couldn’t believe we won. We are all overwhelmed and feeling so many things. What an incredible experience,” smiled Susan.
Susan says her husband is going to retire and they will share some of their winnings with their kids and parents, also adding that, “Travel is the priority for our group, and this will fund many more international adventures for years to come.”
The winning ticket was purchased on PlayOLG.ca.
