Kawartha Food Share’s shelves are a little more stocked after the All Hands-on Deck Food Drive on Friday.
Kawartha Food Share General Manager Ashlee Aitken says she’s blown away by the community support.
All in all, more than 2000 pounds of food and over $2000 was raised. Donations were being collected at No Frills on George Street, as well as Foodland locations on both Sherbrooke and Hunter streets. Aitken says all of the food and cash donated will help during what is usually a slow period during the summer.
Kawartha Food Share serves more than 7600 people monthly in the Peterborough community through over 30 partner agencies, and also supplies healthy snacks to 46 local schools.
