One of the signature events of the calendar year in Peterborough is the annual Dragon Boat Festival.
The tradition has been a staple for two decades and one of the faces you have seen at Little Lake is Gina Lee. Lee is currently serving as Chair of the Festival and is also a breast cancer survivor.
Gina says when she was first introduced to the event and in particular, the Survivors Abreast squad, she was blown away by the energy and support being provided by people who had had their own battles with the terrible disease.
Now as Chair, Gina takes the responsibility of raising money for Peterborough Regional Health Centre seriously. Over the years, more than $3.6 million has been brought in to help fund world-class breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment.
