Following protests in the United States, Peterborough has seen its first Black Lives Matter rally since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
This afternoon in Millennium Park, hundreds marched past Peterborough Police headquarters to Confederation Square.
Organizer S says there’s lots more that has to be done in the battle against racism.
Outrage sparked in the United States after unarmed George Floyd died following an interaction with police officers in Minneapolis. Peterborough Police Chief Scott Gilbert says the way he died was unacceptable.
Gilbert adds that police officers on site, some of them kneeling in solidarity.
