Police have wrapped up their search on a lake in Trent Lakes with an unfortunate result.
Late yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to reports of a man falling through the ice on Bass Lake while riding on a toboggan behind a snowmobile.
Emergency officials were unable to locate the man yesterday, and resumed their search this morning.
OPP say they found the deceased man, who has been identified as 20 year old Tyler Christine-Bourgeois of Azilda, Ontario.
His body has been transported to the coroners office in Toronto, and the incident remains under investigation.
The Peterborough County OPP is advising those using snowmobiles and ATV’s to avoid driving on lakes and rivers. If it can’t be avoided, check ice conditions beforehand, wear a floater suit and carry ice picks and make sure they are accessible. No ice is safe ice.
