Peterborough is getting its own Centralized Composting Centre.
MP Maryam Monsef made the announcement at Beavermead Park this morning. She also announced, on behalf of the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Jonathan Wilkinson, the centre will be getting $6 million of funding from the government.
Monsef says many of the greenhouse gases we are emitting are preventable.
It is projected that it will prevent 32,000 tonnes of organic debris from entering landfills each year and will support local job creation.
