Peterborough city councillors will be considering the future of a new twin-pad arena.
A new staff report is recommending a change in venue for the facility. Officials are suggesting the arena be built at Fleming College and not Trent University as originally planned, to avoid impacting any wetlands. Fleming was council’s second choice, when the location was picked in 2015.
As part of the plan, a competitive 8-lane pool would not be included in phase one of construction. The price tag is expected to be about $50-million, while a chunk of the money expected to come from the federal and provincial governments. Councillors will discuss the plan tonight.
