A fifth person has been charged in relation to an ongoing attempted murder investigation in Eldon Township.
According to OPP in the City of Kawartha Lakes, back on April 12th, officers responded to a disturbance call involving a firearm on a rural property where they located a person with life-threatening injuries. A search warrant was executed at the property which resulted in a large amount of evidence being recovered.
On Monday, a 48-year-old from Ajax was taken into custody in connection.
Peter Habaybeh has been charged contrary to the Criminal Code with:
· Attempt to commit Murder using a firearm – Section 239(1)(a.1)
· Kidnapping with a Firearm – Section 279(1.1)(a.1)
· Discharge Firearm With Intent – Section 244(1)
· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – Section 91(1)
· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – Section 91(1)
· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – Section 91(1)
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on January 24th.
The investigation remains ongoing.
