Selwyn Township is getting some money from the federal and provincial governments.
Over $3 million combined is coming through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program’s Green Infrastructure Stream fund.
The projects that will benefit from the support include upgrades at the Lakefield Water Treatment Plant, the recommissioning of the Lakefield Standpipe and the replacement of water mains under Strickland Street and Prospect Street in the Village of Lakefield to meet current health and safety standards, as well as preventative maintenance.
Mayor Sherry Senis says with the increasing growth and development within the Village of Lakefield, this funding will
allow the Township, in partnership with Peterborough Utilities Group, to make significant infrastructure improvements to ensure those with municipal services will continue to have access to safe, reliable drinking water.
