YMCA Northumberland and Trent Hills are receiving more than $7.5-million towards the building of a new, multi-use recreational facility.
Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini announced on Thursday that the funding will help to construct the 66,000 square-foot Campbellford Recreation and Wellness facility.
The building will feature: an NHL sized ice pad, a fully-accessible lane and therapy pool, a fitness room and a multi-purpose room and more, being able to serve about 35,000 people in Trent Hills and local communities.
It will be located off of Highway 30 on Seymour Quarry Road and will be operated by the YMCA and the municipality.
The total cost for the new, multi-use recreational facility is $17 million, with support of the Campbellford Seymour Community Foundation, fundraising and all levels of government.
