Paid sick time is something Peterborough’s Mayor would like to see as the province enters a second state-of-emergency.
Diane Therrien says right now anyone showing symptoms that hasn’t tested positive for COVID-19 can’t afford to not work.
The Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit (CRSB) pays $500 a week for up to two weeks if you are unable to work at least 50% of your scheduled work week because: you have COVID-19 or you might have COVID-19, you’re being asked to self-isolate or have an underlying health condition that puts you at greater risk of getting COVID-19.
Therrien says it’s something that’s been suggested by health units all over Ontario, but nothing has been done.
